Study in United Kingdom

Student visa · You normally need a licensed course sponsor, proof of funds and supporting documents. Maintenance funds vary by London versus elsewhere.

Plan the application in order

Choose an eligible course and get the sponsor's Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies before preparing a Student visa application. The CAS states the course tuition used in the visa calculation. Check the official application page for identity and document requirements for your own country.

Tuition, visa evidence and actual spending

The published maintenance evidence is a monthly amount for up to nine months, with different London and outside-London rates. It is additional to the unpaid course-fee amount on the CAS; it is not a promise that rent and food will cost exactly that much. Compare a university's housing estimate separately.

Insurance, work and what follows study

The visa application normally includes the immigration health surcharge. Work rights depend on the course and term-time conditions; inspect the permission granted rather than assuming every student can work the same hours. The Graduate visa is a distinct later application with its own changing eligibility and duration rules.

Published financial evidence

£1,529/month in London or £1,171/month outside London, up to 9 months (visa maintenance figure; tuition is additional).

Living cost context

Living expenses vary by city and housing. Use each university’s cost guide for a personal budget.

Apply the current rules to your nationality, course, dependants and intake. A visa evidence minimum does not replace a personal spending budget.
