Study in Netherlands
Study residence permit · A recognised educational institution submits the study residence permit application; check admission, enrolment, progress and financial rules.
Plan the application in order
An IND-recognised educational institution submits the study residence-permit application. Admission and enrolment come first, then the institution's sponsorship process and financial evidence. The IND also sets study-progress conditions during the permit.
Tuition, visa evidence and actual spending
The IND asks for 12 months of living funds under its study norm, which changes each January and excludes tuition. Check the current norm and the chosen university's tuition separately; a generic Amsterdam housing figure is not an immigration threshold.
Insurance, work and what follows study
Paid work outside study has permit conditions and may require an employer work permit. The orientation-year residence permit is a separate possible route after qualifying study, not an automatic extension of the student permit.

Published financial evidence
IND requires proof of enough funds to live and study for 12 months; check its current required monthly amount and tuition separately.
Living cost context
UvA publishes Amsterdam living estimates excluding tuition; costs vary by housing.

Apply the current rules to your nationality, course, dependants and intake. A visa evidence minimum does not replace a personal spending budget.
