Study in Canada
Study permit · Admission to a designated learning institution, financial proof and other documents are required. Check current rules for your situation.
Plan the application in order
First confirm admission to a designated learning institution and read the current IRCC study-permit documents for your programme and province. A letter of acceptance, any applicable provincial or territorial attestation and financial evidence are different pieces of the application.
Tuition, visa evidence and actual spending
For applications on or after 1 September 2026 outside Quebec, IRCC's single-person living-funds figure is CAD 23,448 for a year. Tuition and transportation are extra; Quebec and accompanying family members follow different figures. For a multi-year course, IRCC also asks how the rest of the study will be financed.
Insurance, work and what follows study
Off-campus work is conditional on the study permit, enrolment and programme rules, and cannot replace proof of funds at application. Post-graduation work permit eligibility is a separate programme-level check, so verify it before choosing a course for that purpose.

Published financial evidence
CAD 23,448/year for one person outside Quebec applying on or after 1 September 2026, excluding tuition and transport.
Living cost context
Quebec and accompanying family members have different figures. Visa funds are not a city-specific spending forecast.
